Word Sprout
An English word book for kids where words grow like sprouts

Word Sprout treats each word as a seed planted in a flower pot. Children listen and learn with cards, and every quiz answered correctly grows the seed into a sprout, seedling, leaf, bud and finally a flower. Higher stages wait longer before the next review (the Leitner spaced-repetition method), so words come back just before they are forgotten.
Steady study unlocks missions that reward cute flower cards and seeds. Seeds are planted in “My garden” and grown with watering cans earned by studying, and in “Visit garden” children walk into a 3D garden with Sprout to watch flowers bloom and show their own talents.
Who is it for
For primary-school children (ages 6 to 12) preparing for English word tests, and the parents who study with them. Children can study the exact word list they got at school, with almost no typing.
Features
Make a word book from a photo
Take a photo of a printed list and the app reads each English word and meaning into a word book. Text recognition runs on the device and the photo is deleted afterwards. Results can be edited on the review screen.
American and British voices
Each card reads its word aloud, with buttons for both accents. Continuous play reads English → meaning → English like an audio lesson.
Five ways to practice
Flash cards, Grow-a-sprout (multiple choice and spelling blocks), Pair match, Write in English and Dictation. Questions get harder as each word grows.
Exam mode and tricky words
Set an exam date and the app plans a daily amount so every word blooms in time. Missed words are gathered for extra practice.
Flower cards and My garden
99 missions plus 14 seasonal cards. Plant the seeds you earn, water them and they bloom — and flowers never wilt.
Visit garden (3D)
Walk around the real version of your garden with Sprout. Plant seeds, water sprouts and ask flowers to show their talents, while butterflies, bees, dragonflies and birds drop by. Meeting the daily goal makes the day sunny.

How to use it
- In “Add”, take a photo of a word list or type words to create a word book. Beginners can also pick a recommended list for their age.
- Use “Cards” to hear each word and check its meaning. Tap “I know it” to sprout words you already know.
- Review with the Grow-a-sprout quiz. A correct first try grows the pot by one stage.
- Meet the daily goal (20 correct answers) to earn watering cans for the seeds in your garden.
Data and safety
- Word books, study records and the garden are stored only on the device. There are no accounts and no server.
- Photos are read on the device and deleted, and are never sent anywhere.
- Ads are requested with child-directed settings (no personalized ads) and are offered only after free games are used up and the child taps the button.
FAQ
- Can it read handwritten lists?
- Neat handwriting works, but faint pencil or tilted photos are hard to read. Photos taken in good light, straight on and filling the screen work best.
- Do flowers wilt if we skip a few days?
- No. Flowers in the garden never wilt or shrink; they simply stop growing while you rest.
- Are records shared between the web and the app?
- Records are saved separately on each device. You can continue on the same browser and device.
